{"id":114,"date":"2008-12-25T16:24:21","date_gmt":"2008-12-26T00:24:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.longridesouth.com\/blog\/?p=114"},"modified":"2008-12-25T19:04:29","modified_gmt":"2008-12-26T03:04:29","slug":"a-few-days-in-alamos-sonorah","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.longridesouth.com\/blog\/2008\/12\/25\/a-few-days-in-alamos-sonorah\/","title":{"rendered":"A few days in Alamos, Sonora"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I has been a lot harder than I had hoped to keep up with blogging.\u00a0 Internet access has been\u00a0spotty and catch-as-catch-can.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We crossed the border Monday, and achieved our first day&#8217;s target of getting to Hermosillo by nightfall.\u00a0 We found a relatively inexpensive motel (sometimes hot water, no heat or blankets, no room keys, etc).\u00a0 Levi befriended a tile-setter, Javier,\u00a0working at our motel, who directed us to a local taco stand for supper.\u00a0 He gladly joined us for a few beers, as well.\u00a0 Next morning, before we left, he was back at the motel, sober(!), \u00a0and with a gift for us!<\/p>\n<p>The next days ride was very nice;\u00a0 great weather (at last),\u00a0 and we had a very pleasant day.\u00a0 Passed one military roadblock that was right out of some movie about third-world revolutions&#8230; beggers, peddlers, vendors\u00a0 everywhere, smoke filling the air from open fires and camp cooking, cars and trucks pulled off the road in random fashion, very young men in fatigue uniforms with automatic weapons looking very stern&#8230;\u00a0 all quite surreal.<\/p>\n<p>Arrived in Alamos on Tuesday, before dark, and drove straight to my friend Jerry R.&#8217;s house.\u00a0 He has been a very gracious host, allowing us to use his garden and &#8216;ramada&#8217;
