{"id":1325,"date":"2009-01-22T21:13:09","date_gmt":"2009-01-23T05:13:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.longridesouth.com\/blog\/?p=1325"},"modified":"2009-01-22T21:16:42","modified_gmt":"2009-01-23T05:16:42","slug":"jan-20-san-salvador-to-san-miguel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.longridesouth.com\/blog\/2009\/01\/22\/jan-20-san-salvador-to-san-miguel\/","title":{"rendered":"Jan. 20 &#8211; San Salvador to San Miguel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After a restless night, we had\u00a0 a decent breakfast in the hotel, and I walked a few blocks to a farmacia for more pain stuff.\u00a0 At around 11:00 we turned on the TV and watched the Obama inauguration, and then I went and picked up my new glasses.\u00a0 Perfect!<\/p>\n<p>It was a wild and crazy ride to get out of San Salvador;\u00a0 we had to pass through the main market area on CA-1, and it was a nightmare.\u00a0 Four lanes of busses and cars crunched down to one lane, passing through a thousand market stalls with vendors hawking and shoppers running and people pushing farm carts and wheelbarrows and ice-cream carts and hot-dog wagons and you-name-it!\u00a0 Too many blocks of just pain craziness.\u00a0 Just something you have to see to believe!<\/p>\n<p>Then a good road east.\u00a0 We stopped at a wide spot in the road for a disappointing pupusa lunch, then continued through some very beautiful country-side.\u00a0 Crazy drivers, very bad traffic.\u00a0 We stopped early in San Miguel, 70 K. from the Honduras border.\u00a0 Another first-class hotel, with no hot water!\u00a0 Here in El Salvador every large business, and every hotel and restaurant\u00a0 has an armed security guard on its premises.
